Enjoy the scenic drive to the Cultural Triangle, perhaps stopping for an elephant ride and bathing the elephants at Millennium Elephant Foundation on the way.

Things to do: An exciting full day can be spent between seeing the ancient ruined city of Polonnaruwa and driving out on safari to Minneriya to experience the natural wonders of this part of Sri Lanka.
A trip to Sigiriya rock (one of the 12 world UNESCO sites) temple is always delightful and interesting. Pidurangala is a second rock temple, just as exciting and awe-inspiring as Sigiriya. It is located just north of Sigiriya and was the cremation place of King Kasyapa, who built Sigiriya temple 1600 years ago.
Another option is a day-trip to the town of Dambulla with its famous cave temple – over 2000 years old!

An early start and then a beautiful drive as you head to the Hill Country and to the lovely Heritance Tea Factory Hotel, set amidst the rolling hills and fuctional tea plantations.

Visit one of the nearby tea factories; take a beautiful train trip to the town of Ella and see some sights, including the Ella waterfalls; or visit Lake Gregory and the famous Botanical Gardens of Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya – Bentota, 5 hours
Leave the Hill Country behind and head to the beach!
